Play basketball in Geneva

New to Geneva, working at the UN, the ILO, a permanent mission or an NGO, studying here, or simply looking for a club: International Geneva BBC is an English- and French-speaking club with members from more than 30 countries. Here is how to start playing with us.

The Friday open session

Friday evening practice is the club’s open session and the way in for every new adult player. Tell us you are coming, bring indoor basketball shoes, and play. For the women’s team, the head coach may suggest another night.

Players who want to keep a weekly game without joining a league squad can stay on as Friday-only members.

How trials work

1. Get in touch through the contact form, a team captain or a committee member.
2. Come to the Friday session — your first trial, free.
3. If the coach invites you back, you may train with a squad; up to three free trial sessions in all.
4. By the end of the third trial the club gives you its decision: training, a federation licence to play in the league, or Friday sessions.

Our squads

• IBBC Women (NL1) — The club’s flagship squad. After winning both the Geneva Cup and the cantonal championship in 2023–24, IBBC Women were promoted to Swiss Basketball’s Women’s National League 1 (NL1W) in September…
• IBBC Mini (U8) — A mixed mini-basket squad for children aged 7–8, launched in September 2026. — Membership for the season includes : practices, games and tournaments.
• IBBC Men (2LCM) — The club’s senior men’s team in the ACGBA 2nd cantonal league (2LCM) — Geneva’s amateur championship under Swiss Basketball, around one game a week from October to May.
• IBBC Men (3LCM) — The men’s team in the ACGBA 3rd cantonal league (3LCM), a league the club has won seven times — 1982, 1986, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2015 and 2023 — with runner-up finishes in 2024 and 2026.
